Alternative assets, special situations or illiquid assets are stressed assets arising from non-performing loans, loans that are difficult to recover, business disputes, contractual breaches, indemnity claims, corporate disputes, arising from judicial reorganizations and bankrupt estates, defaults in general, that is, assets arising from a dispute that may or may not be in court.
